April Late Opening Community Day and Run For The Arts

For our late opening in April we had community guest speakers!  Officer Scott came from the Portland Police Department.  He shared a lot of great information with the children and they in turn asked some amazing questions.  He spoke about the tools he uses and the work he does in our community.  After lunch Ms. Adonica came and shared her experiences as a letter carrier.  The children we amazed that she had to deliver the mail in the winter time even in a storm.  They were also excited to hear about how she dealt with large packages and dogs.  Later in the afternoon the local fireman came over to visit.  The children were able to take a little trip through the firetruck and see all the tools both on the outside of the truck and then inside.

RUN FOR THE ARTS
RUN APRIL 25th
MONEY IS DUE MAY 10th
I have challenged the children to have a little friendly competition in our class.  The top three money makers will earn a trip to Mississippi Pizza with me before the end of the year.

The PTA is also sending the top two classes to Mt. Scott Community Center for a day of skating and swimming!  My class has won this the last two years.  I have challenged these guys to do it again!  It is a fun trip and the money raised ALL goes to get more art in the classroom!
